[introduce Yourself]

Hey Guys!

Since the board was messed up I have to make this post again...

Well...

My name is Alexander, but my friend's usually call me Alex.
I was born 1983, and that make's me 18 years old (19 years the 29:th december)

I live in Gothenburg, Sweden.
And all the stories you've heard about polarbears on the street here in the winter are true (or not)
But yeah, it's damn cold over here in the winter.

There's too much stuff I like and dislike to list it, but I'm a 303-fanatic

Oh yeah... And I like Kristen Dunst and her movies

Hi all,

Some of you may remember me from the old forum as benski.

I was lucky enough to be clearing out an old email account today and found that Alex has created this excellent new forum.

I'd been away from the old forum for at least 6 months due to personal commitments, but I should be showing my face around here a bit more often...

Hi and respect to: Alex, Andreas, DJ Opium, TSV and anyone else who I've spoken to on the old board.

Artist name: TB, Phantasphere
Real name: Tim Besamusca
Date of Birth: ▓ birth date hidden
Place of Birth: Utrecht, The Netherlands
History: I started out in the late 90ies with a program called Magix music maker, later i go my hands on Dancemachine (a.k.a. Ejay) and i began to listen to dance music. I was tired of using the same loops over and over again. That was when i found out about Fruityloops. I really liked making my own melodies and beats. (luckily i had some music lessons at school and my mother plays the piano, so i know a bit of music theory). I began to like trance, i uploaded some songs to MP3.com. I got some positive feedback. That also pushed me to go on with producing and i bought myself a Waldorf Micro Q, a nice little synth that still is one of my main instruments nowadays.
Main goal: Make a living out of producing! (produce my own music or for other people also in different genre's)
Likes: Music, music and music and nice people
Dislikes: Jealous people
Listens to: RnB, Hip-Hop, Every form of electronic music, Reggae
Gear: [Hardware] Waldorf micro Q, Behringer MX 1604A, Boss DR 770, Yamaha PSR-GX 76, Yamaha RM1X, Superlux CM H8A [Software] Cubase SX (plus loads of plugins), Cool edit pro 2, Fruityloops 3.5

For those that didn't know me before:

Me:
I played piano and guitar before I discovered dance music.
I started making electronic music about 10 years ago with ScreamTracker and FastTracker. I had previously used some basic drum trackers on the Commodore 64!
Then I moved into hardware based production with a small desk and stuff like JV2080, Novation BassStation and DrumStation etc, while using Cubase 2.0 -> VST.
More recently I've had to sell nearly all my hardware stuff, but with the advent of ReBirth and Reason everything has changed again and I'm able to make good stuff without hardware.

I took time (several years) out of "proper" work to devote time to my music and taught myself the theory required for good production and mastering (although I'm still learning!)

Music:
I used to hate dance music (because I didn't understand it and I hadn't heard *real* dance music). Then I got into House in 1993 and have never looked back. I like most house/trance/breakbeat, but nothing too cheesy and obvious - I prefer the progressive stuff now. I have a love of most dance music, everything from disco, funky house, hard house, tech house, trance, breakbeat (not dnb)
My favourite labels would be
Classic: React, Hooj, Subliminal, Positiva
Current: Digital Stuctures (t[]c and DJ O. should recognise this one), DOS Or Die, Subversive (house), Carbon (disco !!)

Misc:
I'll help out on any production issues you've got and love to review tracks. I'm hoping to actually make some music in the next couple of months.

PS: I'm a web developer by trade (I write HTML/ASP sites and I'm learning .Net) - If anyone needs a hand, let me know.

Love and respect...

My name is Vadim Keyfes, i'm from San Francisco CA, I'm going to be 18 in march!

You guys have such impressive backgrounds....i'm just a big fan of tc, the very first electronica song i downloaded was Atomic Dance Explosion and i was hooked, now i listen to mostly trance/techno with some alternative rock mixed in.

I tried messing around with Adobe Sound Factory a while ago but the freeware version isn't any good and i didn't want to spend the cash but now i want to try again. What kind of training does it take to make decent music?(you guys have talked about music theoryand playing instruments yourelf and what not, could you please answer me in my email since this isn't the right thread for the question; ▓ e-mail address hidden).

Hopefully i'll be making music by summer time.
