Forum DB messed up! (Back on track!)
As you probably noticed the forum went down the drain AGAIN! The reason for this is partially me and also due to disfunctional add-on. I was installing a modification that would add a pretty funny looking shop allowing users to gain credits from posts & misc activity, using the credits to buy 'forum functions' - Trust me, it would've been hillarious. Anyways - what happend was that when the manual installation was done, the SQL entries for the new modification jamed up the DataBase. Naturally, I backed up the whole forum before I started the installation, and also afterwards. So when the forum wouldn't work after the installation I started to reverse the process - And when that wouldn't work I re-installed the forum, and started to re-create the DB from the backups I made. Now here's what really fucked things up... The backup tool timed out due to a database time-out, right after the skin_templates table, and not only once but for both my backups! It's allright to loose the skins as they're easy to install, however I lost the all important 'topic name / id' data wich is very much needed. All 890 posts where saved along with all member & pm data, however the post data is of no use unless you have the topic id data (post data is related with topic_id and needed to view topic content). I'm not sure what to do next, but I do know for sure that I was on my way to jump out the window when I found out what's been lost... I'm sorry guys but I simply can't re-create what's been lost... Surely I can recreate the topic ID's but I can't assign them to the correct category, forum, topic starter, topic start date, number of replies, number of views... etc. Making this rather pointless... Skins will be re-installed ASAP, however I'm about to burst right now from anger & disapointment... And I'll surely get in touch with the 'genious' who created the mod I was trying to install. Best, Alex
