trancecontrol.com and the Time Machine at history.trancecontrol.com are run by Alexander Carlborg for trance[]control. The band also uses its own release tool, SideChain navet, to put videos on its YouTube channel. This page explains what each of them does with personal data. Visiting the sites
- There are no accounts, no log-in, no forms and no comments.
- The sites set no cookies, use no analytics or tracking and show no ads. Everything on the pages, including images, sound and the Winamp player, comes from our own server; nothing is loaded from other companies.
- The sites store nothing in your browser. Some of the band's old pages ran scripts that set cookies; in the Time Machine those stay inside the open browser tab and are never sent to us or anyone else.
- Our servers keep no log of visits. If a request fails, the technical error message in the server's system log can include the IP address and the page asked for. Those logs are used only to fix faults and are overwritten automatically.
- Links to Spotify, YouTube, Bandcamp and the other services take you to them, and their own privacy policies apply there.
The preserved websites
The Time Machine shows the band's own websites from 1998 to 2018, the old forum included, as the Internet Archive preserved them. Street addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, ICQ numbers and private e-mail addresses of other people are hidden on them, and old user accounts are not brought back. If you appear on a preserved page and want something hidden or removed, write to alex@acarlborg.se.
News
The band publishes its news on this site through its own release system. Nothing about visitors is involved.
SideChain navet and YouTube
SideChain navet is the band's release tool. It uploads the band's own videos to its YouTube channel, trance[]control, and for that it uses YouTube API Services. By using SideChain navet you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's own handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Who signs in. Only the band's own Google account. SideChain navet has no other users and runs on the band's own computer.
- What it asks Google for. One permission, YouTube (
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube), so that it can upload videos to the band's channel and set whether they are private, unlisted or public. It uses no other Google service. - What it reads. The channel's id and title.
- What it sends to YouTube. Video files with their title, description, tags, the category Music and the setting “not made for kids”. Videos are uploaded as private; a person in the band decides when one becomes unlisted or public.
- What it stores. In its database on the band's computer: the connected channel (id, title and when it was connected); for each uploaded video its id, a checksum of the file, its title and visibility, when it was uploaded and when it was made public; and a log of these changes.
- What it does not touch. It reads no statistics, comments or playlists, and nothing about viewers or other YouTube users.
- Keys. The short-lived access key from Google is kept only in memory for each request. The key that keeps SideChain navet connected is stored in a private file on the band's computer, and is never shown, logged or shared.
- Sharing. Nothing goes to anyone but Google, through the YouTube API. Nothing is sold or used for advertising, and SideChain navet trains no AI models.
- Withdrawing access. Access can be withdrawn at any time by removing the account in SideChain navet, which deletes the stored key, or on Google's security settings page. After access is withdrawn, the stored data about the channel and its videos is deleted within 30 days.
- Questions and complaints. Write to alex@acarlborg.se.
