Background
Riley & Durrant was a DJ and production duo from Leeds: Nick Riley, a resident at Gatecrasher in Sheffield from 2000, and Andi Durrant, who had presented dance radio shows since 1998. They met on a Gatecrasher line-up in 2002, and their first track, Candesco (Recover, 2003), was played by Tiësto at his Tiësto in Concert show that year. [1, 2, 3]
At the time
In 2004 they played clubs such as Cream, Slinky, Gatecrasher and Judgement Sunday, gave a live set at the Fort Dance festival in St Petersburg and launched their Nu Breed show for new talent on the Galaxy radio network. Their 2004 productions included Exile, Home and The Code and a remix of Armin van Buuren's Burned With Desire. [1, 2, 3]
Later
Their debut album, Research & Development, came out on New State in 2007, as their sound moved from trance towards house. Andi Durrant went on to present dance shows on Capital and Kiss, and in 2021 he launched the online Dance Music Archive, whose weekly show he hosted on Kisstory in 2026. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
