Sunrise

About the release

In February 2004 the band planned to release at least one four-track 12-inch EP that year and asked forum members which track must be on it. On 17 May Alexander wrote that the band had just finished the work on a new 12-inch, then due in July, and later that month that the label had an agreement with its distributor for a line of 27 releases over the next two years. In July Alexander wrote that the band had made a 2004 remix of Sunrise for a 12-inch due in September, and the band's news of 12 July said that the remix was complete and would be released, with the original Sunrise and Psychotic Chaos, on a 12-inch on Massive Trax (UK), first in the UK and Germany.^5,6,7,8,1

The band's new website, online from July 2004, listed the record under 1 September 2004, with Sunrise and Sunrise 2004 on side A and Psychotic Chaos on side B. Alexander kept Sunrise 2004 out of the free downloads, to get more DJs to play it and to keep it exclusive for the label.^2,9,10,11

In October 2004 the band announced its second night at Massive @ Heaven in London, on 17 December, as the first release party for the new 12-inch, then scheduled for December in the UK and Germany. In mid-December it wrote that the night was also the launch party for Massive Trax, with Sunrise as the label's first 12-inch, and that promo copies were on their way to DJs and radio stations in Europe. In February 2005 the band wrote that the release had been delayed further, with the sale now planned to start at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March, and in May 2005 Andreas still hoped the record would be in the shops by the end of that month.^12,3,13

By May 2007 the 2004 mix was a free track of the band's podcast feed as Sunrise [Resurrection]. When it appeared, remastered, on Lost and Found in 2012, the band wrote that it had been meant for a 12-inch single in the UK and Germany in late 2004 that never happened.^14,4,15

In their words

“This is not only a smashing Massive Event but also our first release party for our new 12" Sunrise”

“Unfortunatley that never happened”
