About the track

The band called it "with no doubt the most well produced track we released to this date", a melodic yet progressive piece. Its MP3.com credits read written by WennE and DjC, with production mix and mastering by DjC and Dynamo, whom the band thanked for his help. It was the fifth track on MISSION 2002 Vol.2, and the band played it at Club Sensation in Borås on 3 April 2004.1,3,4

In July 2004 Alexander wrote that the band had made a 2004 remix of Sunrise for a 12-inch due in September, and the band's news of 12 July 2004 said that the remix was complete and would be released with Sunrise and Psychotic Chaos on Massive Trax (UK), first in the UK and Germany. He added that Sunrise 2004 was kept out of the free downloads to get more DJs to play it and to keep it exclusive for the label.5,2,6

The band's second night at Massive @ Heaven in London, on 17 December 2004, was billed as the launch party for Massive Trax, whose first 12-inch was to be Sunrise, and promo copies were already on their way to DJs and radio stations in Europe. In February 2005 the band wrote that the sale had been put off until the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March, and in May 2005 Andreas still hoped the record would be in the shops by the end of that month. The band's discography of 2005 lists the 12-inch, with Sunrise, Sunrise 2004 and Psychotic Chaos, under 1 September 2004.7,8,9,10

By May 2007 the 2004 mix was among the free tracks of the band's podcast feed, as Sunrise [Resurrection]. When it was included in the remastered collection Lost and Found in 2012 as Sunrise (Resurrection), Alexander wrote that the 12-inch had never happened and called it one of the very last tracks produced by the original members of trance[]control.11,12,13
