Beyond 2000, remastered: one week to go

One week to go. On November 13, Beyond 2000 (Remastered) is out, and it's free on Bandcamp. trance[]control turns 30 next year. Instead of a midlife crisis, I went back to where Andreas Wennersköld and I started: Beyond 2000, our debut album from 1999. I've remastered it to bring the levels up to a more modern standard. Same tracks, nothing rewritten. Beyond 2000 grew up on the internet. We put the tracks out one at a time on MP3.com through 1998 and 1999, while the album was still taking shape. When the first pay check from CD sales came in, in March 1999, we decided to put it into turning the garage into a studio. Some of the tracks had a life of their own before the album was done. Atomic Dance Explosion went up in November 1998, and in March 1999 it reached number one on MP3.com, across all genres. That spring it also turned up on the BBC's Tomorrow's World. Dream of Trance followed in March 1999. Beyond 303 was the first track we announced for the album, in April 1999, and a radio station in Lima, Peru, put it on air. Twelve of the original thirteen tracks are on the new version. The one missing is What I Know, the remix by 2-Mental. So mark November 13 in the calendar, and dig out whatever memories go with these tracks.
