About the track

Completed a few days before 19 February 2004 and released in the MP3 Vault on 28 February, it had what Alexander called a pretty controversial name whose meaning was not what one might first think: he explained that Mary-Jane is a mountain at Winter Park, Colorado, and that the song reflected his emotions on one of his snowboarding days there. He described it as an odd track with a feeling of mystery and laid-back vastness.2,1

Opinions in the release thread varied, which Alexander welcomed as a sign that the band still kept a broad spectrum in its work; in the thread's poll 15 of 18 voters gave it four or five stars. It is the sixth track on MISSION 2002 Vol.3 (2004).1,3

In their words

“Mary-Jane is a mountain located in Winterpark, Colorado and this song is made to reflect my emotions during one of my snowboarding days up there.”
