About the release

In April 1999 the band announced its next album, Beyond 2000, to be sold through its MP3.com page, and named Beyond 303 [TC Edit] and Vision of Mind [Live Simulation] as tracks for it. In May it wrote that it was considering making "real CD's" of the album to sell to selected retailers and online stores. The CD came out through MP3.com on 16 August 1999; the biography of June 2000 describes it as ten tracks "both released and unreleased". When MP3.com sold it in November 1999, at $7.99, it held Dream of Trance, Beyond 303 [TC Edit], Atomic Dance Explosion [Radio Edit], Another Beat [trance[]control remix], This is my HOUSE, We are no Strangers, The Sign of Life [Adrenaline Flow Mix], Underground Raver, The path to Eternity and Vision of Mind [Live Simulation]. On the band's MP3.com song entries Popwire, its publisher from the summer of 1999, appears as the label.4,5,1,2,6

The biography says the CD sold about twice as many copies as the.demo.cd. In its statistics report of 7 November 1999 the band counted 401 CDs sold through MP3.com in October and 1,550 in total, and its report for November listed 407 DAM CD sales. In 2000 the band's FAQ told listeners whose record stores had never heard of the band to order its CDs from its MP3.com page.1,7,8,9

In 2000 the CD grew to thirteen tracks. By June the band's news page offered it as a 13-track album at $10.00, and MP3.com's page of December 2000 called it b e y o n d . 2 0 0 0 XIII: The way Home [Promo Edit] now opened it, Inside [Aggressive House Mix] came tenth and a "Suprise track" closed it, which the band's discography of 2005 names as its remix of 2-Mental's What I Know. MP3.com then charged $6.99 for it. In October 2003 Alexander posted the track list on the forum, at $9.99, and six of the eight members who answered the thread's poll said they had bought the CD.10,3,11,12

MP3.com closed its site on 2 December 2003. In April 2004 Alexander told a listener that the band had no CDs for sale, and in June 2004 its music page listed Beyond 2000 as discontinued. Two of the album's tracks, Atomic Dance Explosion and Dream of Trance, were among the old tracks the band remastered for its Bandcamp album Lost and Found in 2012.13,14,15,16
